Expanding My Charity Cards Outreach

I am expanding my charity cards to Veterans!!! If anyone knows any who would enjoy a handmade card during certain times of the year please email me with their info and I'll make a list of Veterans to send the cards too. They served our country and shouldn't be forgotten. Also if anyone can donate anything to help with the cost or supplies that would help out a lot and enable me to send out more cards, Thanks!!!

Cards For The Troops 2

  I tried to find away to show the Kitty Cat Birthday Card. I wanted to direct the attention to the card and not the background so, I tried to replace the background with something else. Here it is!!

I know it's not the greatest that I have ever done, but didn't want to wait too long to post the card!! I hope everyone is enjoying my cards!!!

Cards For the Troops

  I took pictures of my first two cards that I made that are going to the troops!!! I wanted to show everyone what I do with your donations. These were made from a local lady who cleaned out her craft room and gave me everything that she didn't want to keep which gave me better paper and embellishments to use for my cards. Then I was blessed by some digital downloads by Altered Pages which have some fantastic products for card making and other crafts!!! Without further ado! Below is my cards!!!!

Card Making Supplies

  I got my first Card making supplies today from a generous lady who is local to me. She was so nice and I'm happy that I am able to get something to get me started. Her husband is also a Veteran. It was very touching to be able to do something with my life that has become so personal to somebody else and I hope that it touched her life. If anyone else has anything they think would be useful to make cards for our heroes that are fighting our wars  please feel free to email me. Those supplies will be used mainly for charity cards.
 Soldiers are worth it!!

More Helpful Scrapbooking Terms

Scrapper - Someone who engages in the hobby of scrapbooking.

Crop - The practice of trimming or cropping photos, either for decorative elements or to simply resize them.  The word "crop" is also used by some scrappers to refer to a scrapbook gathering, whether it's a convention, retreat, cruise, or even just a group of friends getting together at one's house to work on their scrapbooks as a group.

Embellishments - The decorative elements that really make a page come alive.  Embellishments include stickers, rub-ons, stamps, eyelets, brads, chipboard elements in various shapes, alphabet letters and ribbon. 

Journaling - Journaling refers to the writing or storytelling that's often involved in scrapbooks.

Eyelet - Eyelets are small metal circles through which the laces are threaded on a pair of shoes. They are used in a scrapbook context as decoration and as a means to "rivet" components onto a page - mainly card stock.

Nameplate - An embellishment that looks like its name implies - a round or rectangular plate with a person's name inside.

Punchies - The paper shape which results from using a paper punch tool - not the hole left by the punch. Punchies can be used on a scrapbook page for decorative effect, giving your page the look of confetti.

So learn these words and phrases and you'll better understand what's being said when you're actually working on a scrapbook.

Card Making For Our Heroes!!!!!

  I have always been interested in expanding to make cards, but now I have a real good reason to start, our heroes!! I'm not talking about the ones we read about in our comic books. Nope!! I'm talking about The Heroes that give up so much to go overseas to fight for our freedom! I just found out about a site through an email that I received that you can make homemade cards and send to a designated shipper and they ship them to our Heroes so they can send cards back home to their loved ones and friends. They don't have access to card shops where they are stationed so, they rely on us to make cards for them to send back home. I have been so inspired from this website that I have decided to start making cards for our troops!! This link will show you why!!
